Sustainability
“Nothing should be wasted on the self-sufficient holding. The garbage collector should never have to call.” John Seymour
Sustainability
It’s one of the most important words of these times. Why? It’s has become fundamental in our thoughts and in our actions because only if we are sustainable today, will we be able to ensure future generations that they will have the same healthy, beautiful world that we have enjoyed and thrived on. There is a Kenyan proverb that says:
“Treat the earth well, it was not given to you by your parents, it was loaned to you by your grandchildren.”
Here at the CLS Sardinia what makes our service unique is that being so close to the land, moving along with the seasons we are never taking out more than what we put in, even when organizing tour groups and large amount of people. We stay true to the original philosophy we had when we started our project. You will find yourself eating extraordinary local food, in the company of the very people who grew it, cooked it or who put it away to enjoy during a special moment. We also are able to to create the least amount of refuse as possible in our tours because we go to great lengths to eliminate waste. It means that when we prepare lunch, dinner, we avoid long trips in trucks, plastic wrapping and we fill up our water in directly from a mountain spring and avoid using plastic bottles. Whatever we can’t make ourselves, we rely on local producers and artisans that can provide what we need without having to make long trips or bring it in from the other part of the world. Sustainability is one of our goals and for those that pay attention to these kinds of things, a refreshing change.
